Although it is a heartbreaking decision, it can be the kindest and most humane thing for pets that no longer have an acceptable quality of life despite our best efforts to keep them comfortable. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to determine when the “right time” might be.

What to expect during a house call euthanasia appointment:

Dr. Coates will arrive at your home within a 60-minute arrival window of a pre-determine appointment time. Upon arrival, we will either take care of paperwork and payment, or if you have already completed this prior to arrival (recommended) we will start the appointment. We will meet your pet, give them yummy treats (if allowed), and love on them while we show you the memorial products offered by our local pet crematory (if you are interested). We prefer to get this done before sedating your pet, so that all of the attention is on your pet for the duration of the appointment, and to allow you to properly grieve without having to fill out paperwork or make decisions afterwards.

Your pet will then receive a quick injection under the skin. For some pets, the injection might sting a bit, but we always distract them with yummy treats and cuddles from you to make them more comfortable. Within 15-20 minutes, your pet will slowly and peacefully become sedated. When they are fully sedated, Dr. Coates will then give an injection in one of the back legs so that you can , comfort, and love on your pet.
